flickr: emilie 79*s

first off, i want to apologize for my absence. my life has taken a complete 360 turn, from the path it was on. i've chosen to go in another direction.....at least for the time being. anyways, today i'm feeling very inspired! emilie 79* is held responsible for this. one can't help but to be in "awe" when looking through her magnificent photographs. polaroid, as most of us know, as become a dying breed. this is terrible, i hate it, but it is true. we all know......digital, digital, and more digital. blah blah blah. however, you would never know this fact to be true, after visitng emilie 79*s flickr page. her constant flow of beautiful polaroid images are soo striking, that you can't help but to look at every single one. the pale blue tones, the messages within, the color schemes, the vintage processes, etc. are classic! emile 79* on flickr, also known as emilie lefellie of paris, france, definitely knows polaroid cameras....actually 8 different types of polaroid cameras. her magnificant book: "a girl's polaroids," can not be missed! emilie was also selected to shoot test shots for the "impossible project" using their px100 film. this set of photographs is in incredible! one of theses images was displayed at their exhibition in nyc. so, emilie 79* aka emilie lefellie, today is your day here. you have inspired us all, and resurrected the dead. we, the living, thank you:). rip polaroid. celebrate yourself and your photographs emilie, for they are truly remarkable! to see more: http://www.flickr.com/photos/emilie79/

plutonnia, finally, and way past due, today is your day. plutonnia a.k.a marly, is my “one of kind.” She is beautiful, both inside and out, and has been a big part of my life. if i could put a face on the word "inspired" no doubt, that hot latin firecracker, marly, would be the chosen one! i have never seen someone so determined to explore the unknown, try new things, and learn through trial and error. a truly passionate artist, who will continue to succeed. living with marly in nyc, i got to witness first hand, her vibrant energy daily. i remember when marly knew nothing about photography, other than the fact that she was growing to love it more and more with every passing day. today, things aren't the same. she is one of the most talented photographer's i know, and the most amazing thing of all, is that she learned everything on her own, and out of true passion. it's incredible how far you've come marly. really, it truly is. you knew what you wanted, and you went for it. pinching pennies to save up for equipment, seeking advice, learning from fellow artists, investing countless hours teaching yourself photoshop, lightroom, and aperture......the list goes on. i never doubted you, never. yo conozco mi muejer latina muuuuy bien! you strive to conquer! your ability to succeed on both sides of the camera, is just not fair. Why are you soo damn photogenic?!? your self-portrait aka “365” project on flickr is incredible. amazing use of light you created in that small ass apartment. the tight compositions engage the viewer, and beautiful textures flow perfectly. i love it!! did i tell you I’m proud of you? well, i am. you’re amazing chica! marly is also a very talented actress, and just to prove a point about her dedication, she is know going back to film school. when i met marly, this was where her heart was; acting was her true passion. i’m glad to see you’re making time for it, in you life again. how…………now that’s the question at hand. if you haven’t yet, get to know marly aka plutonnia. her energy is definitely contagious! you’ll feel it through her photography, for sure. I love you girl. today is your FABULOUS day here! to see more: http://www.flickr.com/people/marlyhernandez/ website: www.marlyhernandez.com

flickr: *Sara-Magic*s

sara, as you should know, your photos definitely, and have always spoken to me. known on flickr as Sara-Magic*s, my dear friend sara, is a rare and talented find. taking creativity to new heights, and always keeping an open-mind about everything that crosses her life's path. though i have not gotten to spend as much time with sara as i would like, we always managed to make the best of every situation, we got ourselves into. from road trips to mexico, just hours before a flight, to all-day jd drinking/photo adventures in new orleans, and one specific secret/incident she and i will only know.....all i can say is,"what happens in tulsa, stays in tulsa." sara, you know EXACTLY what i'm talking about! a lover of anything vintage, flavorful, out of the norm, and mind challenging, is what you represent. i love it! less than 100lbs, you are the true definition of "dynamite comes in small packages."i thought i was a brave soul, until i met you. *Sara-Magic*s, reveals her magic through a camera…traveling, times with friends, beautiful places, and artistic endeavors. i moved to nicaragua, 2yrs. ago., after one 2week visit. i had thought about going to nicaragua a few times, but never took it into serious consideration. that is, until one work day spent with sara. i had been wanting to move to central america,in order to shoot a personal documentary over the natives, the culture, the history, and the effects of tourism, for quite some time. the thing was, i absolutely knew, that i did not want to persue this adventure in costa rica. no offense to costa rica, i just wanted something new, and undiscovered. Somewhere i had to search and immerse myself in the lifestyle, in order to produce a true body of work, representing a personal "hands on" experience. truthfully, i would have never have chosen nicaragua, as my destination, and home for 2 years, if i had never received sara's advice. yes, i would have traveled there eventually, but who knows when. this experience changed my life, and when the work is finally finished, and ready to be shown, i hope it will leave an impact on you. thank you sara. when will this documentary be finished.....i don't know. i left the u.s. just before the economy began to crumple, and moved to a 3rd world country, where $100 per month is considered to be middle class. i have just recently moved back to the u.s, and you can probably imagine where i stand financially. i'm not worried, it will happen. whether it be in 5 months or 5 years, and it will be incredible. enough about me, it's time to share the work of an extraordinary friend/photographer, *Sara-Magic*s. thank you and your art. today is your day here sweetheart. http://www.flickr.com/photos/99215595@N00/ website:http://www.saramayti.com

t a y l o r and l o e. your photos speak to me. i came across the set "kristen and jaime," and i was instantly drawn in. fun, flirty, sexy, beautiful, and intimate, are all revealed. this is what relationshipsare about. the last time i checked, i never saw a sign up sheet for, "lie to me, run all over me, stress me out, and question my self-worth." if these two people aren't really "into one another, i might even feel as if i've been deceived. the image w/the bubbles floating between them, is fantastic! the lighting, the composure, the mood, the negative space........all very beautiful. i am also intrigued by the back of their heads image (under the same set "kristen and jaime). depending on the viewer, one could walk away with many different interpretations. i see solitude. a simple image with a none simple message. technically, once again, great use of negative space, and composition. a truly brilliant portrait. t a y l o r and l o e, thank you and your art, today is your day here.

kyrstin brianna! today is your day here. i have delayed this day for quite some time. i knew that describing your work would be difficult for me. you make life beautiful, by how you have chosen to live it. you remain optomistic. whether emotions are in your favor, or playing against you. i see her unique perspective on life, and it inspires all who know her. just as impacting verbally, as it is visually, her work has created a style of it's own. a poetic photographer is what you are. i have asked myself over and over, which comes first?!? are your thoughts the inspration behind your photographs, or are your experiences what create your photographs, and then later you process out your thoughts?? the past, the present, the past back in the present; it's all a part of your past and present life, and your bright outlook on the future. keep the mind spinning, and the camera clicking kyrstin brianna! we are growing with you. thank you and your art. today is your day here.

flamingtea. today is your day here. you have inspired so many with your creativity and unique style. photojournalistic with a twist. with soo many photographers shooting this type of work, it's hard to stand out amongst the crowd, yet you tower over. your optimistic nature shines through. flamingtea, otherwise known as olivia (got this info. from your testimonials), lives her life to the fullest. i don't see another way of living, but unfortunately, there are very few who can commit to this lifestyle. it takes a carefree, live in the moment, chase your dreams soul. i believe that flamingtea represents a mirror image of who she truly is, through her photography. apparently we all want this lifestyle, but fear stands in the way of those who don't persue it. so, olivia, your photos provide an outting for the less fortunate and fearful. they're like therapy really. personally, i love every single aspect of life you represent. you reassure me, that i'm not the only one who goes and does as she chooses. dreamy, fun, energetic,  youthful, spontaneous, and worldy. this is what i see in you and your photographs. thank you and your art. today is your day here.

lesliee. today is your day. 2 things; summer and polaroids. what could possibly be better? a youthful spirit, experimenting in life through photo documentation. you do it with such bliss. lesliee is what one could call "a naturalist." earth tones, sunlight, and nature, are a constant reflection in her work. no space is forgotten in composition, and a cinematic quality is revealed. i love this! lesliee, you are from brookfield, wisconsin. i'm not sure of your exact age, but i believe that you are 18, and i know you're attending high school. if i am wrong, please correct me. i know your artistic endeavors will take you far. your talent is apparent. lesliee's photos are available for purchase. if  interested in purchasing prints, contact her through email via flickr. don't ever stop shooting. it's a gift you were blessed with. thank you and your art. today is your day here.

SophieG*. today is your day. it sounds strange to use words such as negative, and minimalism, when referring to your work. taking full advantage of negative space with an overall minimalist theme, is what you do best though. your ability to show soo little, but say soo much, is brilliant. this is not an easy task. transparent, soft, and fragile her photographs appear, but powerful is what they always remain. SophieG*'s testimonials from flickr contacts, reveal the amount of inspiration she has reflected onto others. a painter of light, an illustrator, and an emotion provoker, are just a few of the words one uses to describe her. i have one particular common interests with SophieG*. In her profile, she quotes, "For me, the desire to be behind the camera has a lot to do with not wanting to be in front of it..." i could not relate more. With flickr's 365 projects creating a new found confidence in shooting "self-portraits," i began to feel lost. i think it is incredible that soo many of you are shooting such amazing portraits of yourselves, i really do! i'm just better behind the lens, rather than in front of it. so, with that said, i'm extremely excited to know that someone else feels the same. alright, wait no more. go get lost. SophieG*, thank you and your art. today is your day here.

flickr: doublecappucino

doublecappuccino. today is your day. your fotos speak to me. if you love variety, yet originality, then doublecappucino will make you smile with appreciation. otherwise known as seth restaino, from san francisco. the Holga CFN, Lomo, Leica M6, Nikon FE, Nikon D700, are just a few of the cameras from doublecappuccino's extensive collection. i know quite a few photographer's, who collect a wide range of vintage cameras (including myself), but not many whom actually shoot with them. the mere fact that seth still spends the time, and the money invested in film, shows pure devotion to the format. all of you, who actually shot before the digital era, know this to be true. many will argue, that digital is "up to par" with film now, if not better. personally, i don't care. i think they both have their pro's and con's. regardless, there is just something intimate about shooting film. maybe it's the before hand thought process, like, "will i be shooting during the day or at night, will the light change, are there vibrant colors to be captured, is the subject still or moving, etc. etc. Or, maybe, you're like me, and you enjoy the hands-on dark room processing,  a lot more than sitting in front of the computer....... whatever your film fetish may be, i'm sure you get where i'm coming from. with that said, doublecappucino will "turn you on," with his personal style. roaming the streets of san francisco, new york, or wherever he maybe, he is photographing everything he sees. beauty in all forms. an unprocessed depiction of life.  one moment, you're at home enjoying the simpler things with family, next, you're crossing the busy city streets, while dodging cyclists and other pedestrians, in order to make it to the office on time, and then, later, skating in the park and hanging with friends. different people, doing different things, in different places, yet it's all the same, because of just that. a personal journey. this one is through the eyes, or lens you could say, of a very talented artist. everyday, in an anything but ordinary way, is what seth's images reveal. however, i have to say, having such a gorgeous family to photograph, does cut you some slack dude. haha. no, but seriously, thank you and your art. today is your day here.

today is your day. you have moved me, and left me speechless.......and more than once. my words can't begin to describe the depth and power of your work. a beautiful bohemian spirit; living and acting as you feel, with so much unconventional freedom of expression. your life is your art. the most compelling factor is youth, and how much more awaits you. blissful, elegant, happy, and even emotionally destraught at times, your intense strength always shines through. no layers can hide what lies within. to think that i've never met you, but yet, feel as if i've always known you, is impeccable. you have amazing talent. embrace it. never stop shooting. thank you and your art. today is your day here.

heidill. today is your day. your fotos speak to me. if you love tone, texture, and gorgeous use of light, then you will love the work from artist, heidill. her images are soft and beautiful, but not limited to just that. she has an ongoing body of work, called, "bench monday," that is timeless and quite entertaining. i'm assuming, it is shot on a "monday," always includes a "bench," and never reveals the subjects face. these photos are among my favorite; with stunning use of color, and creativity applied. i find myself anxiously waiting to experience the next addition to this series. it's obvious heidill puts lots of time, and thought into her work; the way of any successful artist. this passionate dedication has paid off. her work definitely possess' its own character and uniqueness. just look below. thank you and your art. today is your day here.

N¡fer. today is your day. the photographer i am highlighting today is special on more than one note. she is also a dear friend of mine, whom i use to walk around the streets of nyc, and shoot with. i am specifically drawn to her work, because she has a style i can passionately relate to. her pictures tell a story of life; her life, and the people around her. with that said, if you happen to know jennifer, then you know how invious one can be. this girl is always in on the "hip nyc crowd," and never seems to have a dull moment in her day. she's in doing her thing in manhattan, and then brooklyn, and then l.i.c. when i wanted something out of the ordinary, and at the top of the "fun charts", i always called jennifer. so, yes, she has a cool life, and yes, she photographsjust that. however, it's not just this that makes her photos stand out. for as long as i've know her, she is continuously evolving in her photo education, and loves to be experimental! shooting with a holga, a polaroid, her little rebel, etc. etc., and in varies settings/processes; long exposures, double exposures, etc. etc. on top of that, she has the "balls" you need to be a street photographer. if she sees a picture, she takes it. period. there is no hesitation. i love it. this is what establishes a true artist. you go for what you want, even if that means periods of uncomfortableness, waiting, planning, etc. these things don't matter, because you know the end result is worth the wait and more. when you look at jennifer's work, you'll see exactly what i'm talking about. another thing, is her sense for perfect composition. it's amazing. i've seen her climb things, crawl over and under things, jump up and down, run, and much more, to get the perfect shot. she is definitely one of, if not my favorite, people to shoot with (brandon and marly, you guys are right up there too. i promise). sooooo, get excited, because you're gonna love this girl's work! thank you and your art.N¡fer today is your day here.
